Ai You Morning Star—Medical Treatment Program for Orphaned and Poor Children with Various Diseases

“Ai You Morning Star Project” was launched in April 2015 focusing on helping children with diseases that have favorable prognosis. Now the project covers 18 diseases. In the system of Ai You child health care, “Ai You Morning Star Project” is the first to cover multiple diseases and coordinates effort from different medical departments so as to offer the most effective treatment possible.

The project is managed through the cycle of “application, treatment, payment, archiving and assessment”. Designated hospitals and the Foundation share information online, enabling us to offer help in an efficient, accessible, open and transparent way.

Diseases covered in this project include congenital hydrocephalus, sacral meningocele, esophageal atresia, esophageal stricture, megacolon, choledochal cyst, small intestinal atresia, anal atresia, necrotizing enterocolitis, meconium peritonitis, congenital dislocation of the hip, clubfoot, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, gastroschisis, umbilical swelling, premature children, children solid tumors. Young patients with these diseases can fill out the application form and the application for aid is filed by project coordinators at hospitals. The Foundation reviews the application and decides whether to include the applicant into the project according to family income and level of disastrous spending.

Applicants who passed the review do not need to pay for the part of expenditure covered by the project. Different diseases have different upper limit and proportion of financial aid. This guarantees that patients can have access to aid as soon as possible. All transactions of funds are between hospitals and the Foundation and patients’ family do not have to do anything.

By the end of November 2017, “Ai You Morning Star Project” has signed agreements with 23 regional hospitals and the number will go up in 2018 to help more children.
